Aruba's Road Traffic Ordinance requires that children who are too small to safely use a standard adult seatbelt must travel in an approved child restraint system. This applies in rental cars exactly as it does in privately owned vehicles. Police checkpoints are common on the main roads and tourists are not exempt from fines.
Beyond the legal requirement, the practical reality is clear: Aruba's roads include roundabouts, speed bumps (drempels), and occasional sharp braking moments in tourist traffic. An unsecured child is at serious risk in even a minor collision. A properly fitted seat is the single most important safety decision you will make for your child's trip.
The Three Types of Child Seats We Offer
Infant Seat
Designed for newborns and young infants. Rear-facing seats provide the best protection for babies whose necks and spines are still developing. The harness cradles the baby's entire body, distributing crash forces evenly.
Toddler / Convertible Seat
Convertible seats can be used rear-facing for young toddlers and then converted to forward-facing as the child grows. This makes them excellent value for longer holidays where the child may grow across the trip.
Booster Seat
Booster seats raise the child to the correct height so the adult seatbelt sits properly across the chest and lap rather than cutting across the neck. Required by law in Aruba for children in this weight range who are too small for adult belts.

Before every rental, our team checks the seat for structural integrity, harness condition, and cleanliness. Any seat involved in an accident, even a minor one, is immediately retired from the fleet and replaced. Crash forces can compromise the internal structure of a seat without leaving visible damage, so we follow the strict rule: once crashed, always retired.

How to Add a Baby Seat to Your Booking
Adding a child seat is simple and we strongly recommend doing it in advance rather than on arrival. Here is the process:

Seat Added to Your Agreement
The seat is added to your rental agreement at a fixed daily rate (typically $8–$12 per day). It is installed in your vehicle before you collect it.
Pickup & Installation Check
At pickup, our team shows you how the seat is installed and checks the harness adjustment for your child. Never hesitate to ask for help. Correct installation matters more than anything.
We have a limited number of child seats. During peak season (December–April and school holidays) they are booked well in advance. Please confirm your requirement as early as possible. We cannot guarantee availability for last-minute requests.

Is there a height or weight limit I should know about?
Always match the seat to your child's current weight, not age. Children grow at different rates. A 2-year-old in the 90th percentile may already need a convertible or forward-facing seat, while a petite 4-year-old may still fit safely in a toddler seat. When in doubt, contact us and we will advise.
